You do – in the risk assessment. Manufacturer information, technical rules and insurer guidance provide orientation.
Common reference values
Racks and forklifts are usually inspected annually, fire extinguishers every two years. Portable electrical equipment on construction sites every three months, in offices often only every two years. Ladders usually annually – plus a visual check before every use.
Who may inspect?
A “competent person for inspection” with suitable training and experience. Electrical equipment requires a qualified electrician; some installations require an approved inspection body.
