When is a briefing required?
Before starting work, when tasks change, when new equipment or methods are introduced – and regularly after that, at least once a year. Young workers are briefed every six months.
What makes a good briefing?
It refers to the specific workplace, is based on the risk assessment and is explained in a way people understand – in their native language if needed. Comprehension questions at the end show whether the message landed.
Online or in person?
Online briefings are permitted if they are workplace-specific, comprehension is tested and questions can be asked. Practical parts – such as putting on a fall-arrest harness – still belong on site.
